Valentines Day - the Real Meaning
Valentinus was an ancient Priest, jailed for his Christian beliefs around 268 A.D. "Valentinus" or "Valentine" penned a farewell note to his jailer's daughter, signed, "From your Valentine."
It was also believed during the Middle Ages in France and in England that February 14 was the beginning of the bird mating season. This added to the idea that Valentine's Day should be a day for romance.
Valentine's Day is the second most popular card-sending holiday after Christmas. The oldest known valentine still in existence today is a poem written in 1415 by Charles, Duke of Orleans, to his wife while he was imprisoned in the Tower of London following his capture at the Battle of Agincourt.
By the middle of the 18th Century it was common to exchange small tokens of affection and or handwritten notes. On this day, all around the world marks this occasion as a day for sending poems, cards, gifts, flowers or candy.
Most of all it's a day to remember the love we have for one another.

Spiritual Peoples of the Earth
Spiritual Peoples of the Earth
By Dan Skye · Fri Nov 15, 2013
The future perils to humanity as a result of the 2011 Fukushima Dai-Chi nuclear disaster, which occurred in the wake of Japan’s earthquake and tsunami, continue to emerge. New reports indicate that a wealth of new radioactive materials has been spewed into the atmosphere causing concern that It’s spreading globally. Nuclear radiation is forever. It doesn’t dissipate or disappear. No safe level exists.
Arvol Looking Horse, who is widely recognized as a chief and the spiritual leader of all three branches of the Sioux tribe – Lakota, Dakota, and Nakota – delivered a statement at the United Nations on Thursday, November 14. Looking Horse is the 19th Generation Keeper of the Sacred White Buffalo Calf Pipe, the youngest ever. The Council Statement he presented “reflects the wisdom of the Spiritual People of the Earth, of North and South America, working in unity to restore peace, harmony and balance for our collective future and for all living beings.”
The Creator created the People of the Earth into the Land at the beginning of Creation and gave us a way of life. This way of life has been passed down generation-to-generation since the beginning. We have not honored this way of life through our own actions and we must live these original instructions in order to restore universal balance and harmony. We are a part of Creation; thus, if we break the Laws of Creation, we destroy ourselves.
We, the Original Caretakers of Mother Earth, have no choice but to follow and uphold the Original Instructions, which sustains the continuity of Life. We recognize our umbilical connection to Mother Earth and understand that she is the source of life, not a resource to be exploited. We speak on behalf of all Creation today, to communicate an urgent message that man has gone too far, placing us in the state of survival. We warned that one day you would not be able to control what you have created. That day is here. Not heeding warnings from both Nature and the People of the Earth keeps us on the path of self-destruction. This self-destructive path has led to the Fukushima nuclear crisis, the Gulf oil spill, tar sands devastation, pipeline failures, impacts of carbon dioxide emissions and the destruction of ground water through hydraulic fracking, just to name a few. In addition, these activities and development continue to cause the deterioration and destruction of sacred places and sacred waters that are vital for Life.
Powerful technologies are out of control and are threatening the future of all life. The Fukushima nuclear crisis alone is a threat to the future of humanity. Yet, our concern goes far beyond this single threat. Our concern is with the cumulative and compounding devastation that is being wrought by the actions of human beings around the world. It is the combination of resource extraction, genetically modified organisms, moral failures, pollution, introduction of invasive species and much, much more that are threatening the future of life on Earth. The compounding of bad decisions and their corresponding actions are extremely shortsighted. They do not consider the future generations and they do not respect or honor the Creator’s Natural Law. We strongly urge for the governmental authorities to respond with an open invitation to work and consult with us to solve the world’s problems, without war. We must stop waging war against Mother Earth, and ourselves.
We acknowledge that all of these devastating actions originated in human beings who are living without regard for the Earth as the source of life. They have strayed from the Original Instructions by casting aside the Creator’s Natural Law. It is now critical for humanity to acknowledge that we have created a path to self-destruction. We must restore the Original Instructions in our lives to halt this devastation.
The sanctity of the Original Instructions has been violated. As a result, the Spiritual People of the Earth were called ceremonially to come together at the home of the Sacred White Buffalo Calf Pipe Bundle. These Spiritual Leaders and those that carry great responsibility for their people from both North and South America came together with the sacred fire for four days at the end of September 2013 to fulfill their sacred responsibilities. During this time it was revealed that the spirit of destruction gained its’ strength by our spiritually disconnected actions. We are all responsible in varying degrees for calling forth this spirit of destruction, thus we are all bound to begin restoring what we have damaged by helping one another recover our sacred responsibility to the Earth.
We, the Original Caretakers of Mother Earth, offer our spiritual insight, wisdom and vision to the global community to help guide the actions needed to overcome the current threats to all life. We only have to look at our own bodies to recognize the sacred purpose of water on Mother Earth. We respect and honor our spiritual relationship with the lifeblood of Mother Earth. One does not sell or contaminate their mother’s blood. These capitalistic actions must stop and we must recover our sacred relationship with the Spirit of Water
The People of the Earth understand that the Fukushima nuclear crisis continues to threaten the future of all life. We understand the full implications of this crisis even with the suppression of information and the filtering of truth by the corporate owned media and Nation States. We strongly urge the media, corporations and Nation States to acknowledge and convey the true facts that threaten us, so that the international community may work together to resolve this crisis, based on the foundation of Truth.
We urge the international community, government of Japan and TEPCO to unify efforts to stabilize and re-mediate the nuclear threat posed at the Fukushima Dai-ichi nuclear power plant. To ensure that the Japanese government and TEPCO are supported with qualified personnel and information, we urge the inclusion of today’s nuclear experts from around the world to collaborate, advise and provide technical assistance to prevent further radioactive contamination or worse, a nuclear explosion that may have apocalyptic consequences.
The foundation for peace will be strengthened by restoring the Original Instructions in ourselves. Prophecies have been shared and sacred instructions were given. We, the People of the Earth, were instructed that the original wisdom must be shared again when imbalance and disharmony are upon Mother Earth. In 1994 the sacred white buffalo, the giver of the sacred pipe, returned to the Lakota, Dakota and Nakota people bringing forth the sacred message that the winds of change are here. Since that time many more messengers in the form of white animals have come, telling us to wake up my children. It is time. So listen for the sacred instruction. All Life is sacred. We come into Life as sacred beings. When we abuse the sacredness of Life we affect all Creation.
We urge all Nations and human beings around the world to work with us, the Original Caretakers of Mother Earth, to restore the Original Instructions and uphold the Creator’s Natural Law as a foundation for all decision-making, from this point forward. Our collective future as human beings is in our hands. We must address the Fukushima nuclear crisis and all actions that may violate the Creator’s Natural Law. We have reached the crossroads of life and the end of our existence. We will avert this potentially catastrophic nuclear disaster by coming together with good minds and prayer as a global community of all faiths.
We are the People of the Earth united under the Creator’s Law with a sacred covenant to protect and a responsibility to extend Life for all future generations. We are expressing deep concern for our shared future and urge everyone to awaken spiritually. We must work in unity to help Mother Earth heal so that she can bring back balance and harmony for all her children.

Winner of the name that food “king cake” mystery toy box giveaway is Michelle Bender! You have 24 hours to email me through this site or just message me on FB. Congrats! 2/4.
Normally this post comes together really easy but this week I was having the hardest time trying to figure out what to include. A few months back as I was scrolling through my Facebook feed and one of my friends had shared a story posted from the site “Beats for Beckam” and I decided to read it too. This blog is about the Moreno family who are chronicling life with their first born, sweet baby Beckham. When they went for their 20 week ultrasound not only did they find out they were having a baby boy but they also found out there may be something wrong with his heart. A few weeks later Beckham was diagnaosed with Hypoplastic Left Heart Syndrome (HLHS), meaning only half of his heart developed.
At 12 days old, this little fighter underwent his first open heart surgery but they were able to take him home a couple days later.
Taken from their Beckham’s Story page:
“On April first we admitted Beckham to Children’s due to worrisome symptoms of unusual fussiness and vomiting. An echo of his heart confirmed that his tricuspid valve had severe regurgitation. Within a few hours our son had a cardiac arrest requiring nearly an hour of CPR and ECMO life support. After eight days on ECMO, Beckham underwent open heart surgery to repair his tricuspid valve. This acute change to the tricuspid valve is something no one (on Beckham’s care team at Children’s in Dallas) has ever seen in a child before. We are so thankful for the brilliant, creative skills of Beckham’s surgeon.
The weeks that followed this surgery were filled with times of fear and great hope. We watched and waited for Beckham to heal, wake up, and breathe on his own. Over time we began to see the severe extent of injury his little brain suffered during CPR. Beckham currently does not have a swallow or gag reflex. He also struggles with most basic things like tracking, grabbing, and crying. Without significant improvement in these areas he will not be a candidate for further cardiac intervention. This gives him roughly four to six months to live.
We were able to bring our sweet boy home at the beginning of June. We are hoping for a miracle. We covet your prayers. Thank you for following our story and loving our sweet Beckham.”

Isn’t this little boy the cutest ever??! I say a little prayer for him every night as well as for Lindsey and Beto and I hope you will too.
This story hit close to my heart because not only do I have 4 little ones but my 2nd youngest was born with a heart defect. In the hospital not one word was uttered about any problems but when we went to our first doctors appointment the doctor was taking extra time on listening to his heart and as we would find out in the coming days, he had 2 holes in his heart. I think the hardest thing a parent could ever hear is that there is a problem with your child. This sweet couple had also gone through a miscarriage before having Beckham, which I had also and it is such a trying experience it will make you scared to get pregnant again.
There is something about their story that I could not shake. I kept thinking about their family and sweet Beckham so I emailed them and asked if I could share their story. So many others asked how they could help so the family put these shirts together and you can buy one to support Beckham. I am buying one today!
Go here to shop! Today is the LAST day to put your order in so don’t wait. I am also going to buy one for one of my followers so check out my facbeook page today.

Baked Cauli-Tots
Baked Cauli-Tots
Cheesy, crispy, so amazingly good that they’ll easily replace those other tots as your family’s favorite side dish.
Author: Brianne @ Cupcakes & Kale Chips
Recipe type: Side Dish, Veggie
Serves: Makes 24 tots
Ingredients
- 3 c (about half of a head) shredded cauliflower (see Note)
- 4 oz. (about 1 c) shredded sharp cheddar cheese (I used Cabot 50% Light Sharp Cheddar)
- 1 egg
- ¼ c cornmeal
- 1 tsp kosher salt
- a few grinds black pepper
- ½ tsp ground mustard
Instructions
- Preheat your oven to 400°F. Spray a mini muffin tin with oil or coking spray.
- Place the shredded cauliflower in a kitchen towel and squeeze out the excess moisture.
- Combine all of the ingredients in a large bowl, and mix together thoroughly. I like to use a fork.
- Using a spoon or scoop, divide the mixture between the muffin cups and press down firmly into the cups.
- Bake at 400°F for 15-20 minutes, or until golden brown.
Notes
I use the shredding blade on my food processor to shred the cauliflower. You can use the stems as well, not just the florets, since it is all being shredded and mixed together.
Valentine Tea Towel / Randi Dukes/Google
Can I ask you a question? Is it just me, or do you browse catalogs too, to see what you can make yourself?
I know, it is contagious. You see it…love it…but then decide…the colors are not quite right…it needs one more detail…or the price is just too much. This problem started for me in high school…just ask my mom about my teal blue sequinned prom dress she made me. { or maybe you shouldn’t }
Anyway, this little Anthropologie Inspired Valentine Tea Towel is one of those…I can do that…craft projects…
When I saw the version in the Anthropologie catalog, I knew I had everything I needed to create my version. Scary I know, but that is the life of a crafter.
I loved all the little ribbons, neatly laid out together to create the heart shape…
I simply, headed to my ribbon stash. You do not need very much ribbon and I bet you just might have more than you think.
Let me walk you through creating your own Anthropologie Inspired Valentine Tea Towel!
*****************************
Supplies Needed:
1. White Flour Sack Towel { you can pick these up at Wal-Mart or Target }
2. Variety of ribbons { I chose red based ribbons in different widths }
4. Scissors
5. Iron
6. Heart Template or Pattern
7. Optional: Red and White Baker’s Twine and sewing needle
*****************************
If you have never used the Thermaweb Heat n Bond Ultra, it is a fabulous ! I use it for my applique projects as well. It is a great no-sew alternative for projects.
I simply cut 7 inch strips of my ribbons and laid them on the Heat n Bond, in the pattern I liked, for the heart. I followed the directions on the Heat n Bond for attaching the ribbons to the product. The Heat n Bond has a paper backing. I traced the heart shape pattern on it, and then cut it out. Once I had the ribbon heart shape cut out, I peeled off the backing. This left me with my ribbon heart, and a glossy, almost plastic backing. I placed the heart on the towel where I wanted it to be, and followed the directions on the Heat n Bond for applying it to the fabric…
The best part of this project is that you get to decide how you want the heart to look. You could go traditional red, like me, or add in some pink, blue, whatever you have on hand.
I enjoy different patterns, widths, and shapes, but wanted to keep the color scheme simple…
I am all about the little details in a project, so I could not ignore that the inspiration towel had a sweet “x” pattern stitched across the hem. I decide to duplicate the detail on my own. I used red and white baker’s twine and a large sewing needle…
I love the combination of ribbons and the baker’s twine. The “x” pattern at the bottom of the tea towel gives it that finished look and allows a little “weight” at the bottom visually, to really complete the look…
Are you unsure about hand sewing? This is a great project to try. You really can not go wrong, simply stitch little “x” patterns across the bottom. Remember, it is not about it being perfect, that is what makes it special to you!
I admit that I have an issue with fabric and ribbon….yea I like it a lot! So, this sweet Valentine Tea Towel was a perfect project to use some of that adorable ribbon. It really does not take much to make you home festive for special occasions, and this sweet kitchen towel will be the perfect little accent in our home!
Want another simple Valentine Decor Idea? This free Valentine Printable and adorable Peg Family should go on your DIY craft list too…
I love our little peg family!
So tell me, what do you do in your own home to make it special for Valentine’s Day?

Coco nut oil...who would of thought
5 Glowing Benefits of Raw Coconut Oil
Posted on July 26, 2012
Can a saturated fat help make you glow? Absolutely, especially when it is organic virgin coconut oil, a key ingredient in Hail Merry’s nurturing desserts. Coconut Oil is classified as a functional food because it provides benefits over and above basic nutrients. Coconut oil’s medium chain fatty acids work their magic both inside and outside your body to keep you glowing.
How can coconut oil benefit you? Here is our top 5:
1. GLOWING ENERGY: Coconut oil is a medium chain fatty acid that is quickly absorbed and metabolized because it can be broken down by digestive enzymes in the mouth called saliva lipase. Then it is quickly absorbed into the blood stream where it is used as energy to the fuel the body, similar to carbohydrates. Most other plant based fats need to be digested by enzymes further down the digestive tract in the pancreas and liver, and are then stored as fat. Energy drains are not pretty. Create beauty from within with E=MC2 or Energy=Miracle of Coconut Two Times Per Day.
2. GLOWING CALMNESS: Coconut oil contains polyphenols and bio-nutrients, antioxidants that resist the oxidation of skin cells and may protect against the formation of free radicals that can cause inflammation. Coconut oil’s natural antioxidant properties work both inside when eaten and outside when applied directly to the skin to keep you glowing all day long. Close your eyes and feel the calmness.
3. GLOWING IMMUNITY: Upon digestion, lauric acid, the medium chain fatty acid in coconut oil, is converted into monolaurins. Monolaurins are powerful immune-boosting antibacterial, antiviral, and antifungal agents that occur naturally within the body. Research suggests that monolaurins interact with the lipids and phospholipids of antimicrobial invaders. Lipids and phospholipids are the building blocks that form cell membranes. Monolaurin weakens or disintegrates antimicrobial invader cell membranes. Many lipid-coated viruses can live in your stored fat and disturb your metabolism, promoting obesity and diabetes. Coconut oil may offer immune support against HIV, herpes, influenza H pylori and giardia lamblia, a harmful protozoon. Strong is the new sexy!
4. GLOWING ABSORPTION: Coconut oil helps the body absorb minerals and the important fat-soluble vitamins A, D, E and K. Coconut oil also acts as building blocks for cell membranes in the brain that help you think and feel. When you feel good, you think good!
5. GLOWING HAIR : When applied topically, coconut oil may help nourish dry and damaged hair. It may help control dandruff, lice and lice eggs when massaged into scalp. Beautiful hair equals beautiful day!

Let’s face it, the cosmetics aisle can feel pretty overwhelming: It’s hard enough having to choose from hundreds of products (Facial cleanser or scrub? Lip gloss or balm?), but add to that the list of harmful ingredients to look out for and it’s enough to make you forgo the entire ordeal altogether. Which might be for the best, depending on what products you use: “Your skin absorbs up to 60 percent of what you put on it,” says Stephanie Tourles, a holistic aesthetician in Orland, Maine, and author of Organic Body Care Recipes. “So if you use pure, natural ingredients, you’re guaranteed to avoid applying anything toxic to your body.” Here, DIY beauty tricks that’ll have you sittin’ pretty in no time.

YOU WANT:
Strong hair and smooth skinTRY: Jojoba oil
While not technically an oil, this liquid wax—derived from the seed of the jojoba shrub—offers your body plenty of natural benefits. Craving strong, luscious locks? To help stimulate hair growth, heat 3 to 5 teaspoons of the jojoba oil in the microwave until warm (just a few seconds), massage it onto a dry scalp for 5 minutes, and leave on under a shower cap overnight before washing with a sulfate-free shampoo the next morning. It also makes a great moisturizer, says Tourles, and it can be used on dry and oily skin. “Jojoba oil penetrates the pores really well, and it works in conjunction with your own skin to help balance oil production, so it can be used on all skin types.” Immediately after cleansing, while your face is still moist, apply ½ teaspoon to face, neck, and chest, as you would your regular moisturizer.YOU WANT:
A facial cleanser and makeup remover in oneTRY: Coconut oil
If you’re searching for a foam-free facial cleanser that won’t dry out your skin, a tub of extra-virgin unrefined coconut oil should do the trick, says Tourles. Combine 2 teaspoons each of coconut oil and extra-virgin olive oil (rub the coconut oil between your palms first, since it takes on a solid form when it’s cold), massage over the entire face for about a minute, then rinse off with a warm washcloth every night before bed. This not only removes makeup, it cleanses and softens the skin, as well. Feel a pimple coming on at just the thought of all that oil? Give it a shot anyway, says Tourles, since it has antibacterial properties that can help heal acne. “The saying ‘Like removes like’ can be applied here as well,” she says. “Coconut oil actually helps break down and wash away the excess oil on the surface of oily skin.” She recommends oily skin types also use a mild olive oil soap, like the Pure Olive Oil Soap bar by Kiss My Face ($4 for one 8-ounce bar, kiwishoponline.com) as a second cleanser.YOU WANT:
Glossy lips and strong nailsTRY: Castor oil
This oil is almost always the frst ingredient in commercial lipsticks,” says Tourles. “It has really good sticking and staying ability—it’s very moisturizing, very shiny, and it holds color well.” She recommends using it as an inexpensive alternative to lip gloss—it adds shine and will hold for hours. Another easy way to get the most out of a bottle of castor oil: Nail care. “Massage one drop on each fingernail every night before bed,” says Tourles. “It stimulates circulation to the nail bed, which means more blood and nutrients flow underneath, enhancing growth and making nails harder and shinier.”YOU WANT:
Shiny hair and balanced skinTRY: Apple cider vinegar
If there’s one item to keep in your home remedies arsenal, it’s this one. Whether you’re looking to clean your kitchen, clear up a sore throat, or whip up a tasty salad dressing, there isn’t much apple cider vinegar (ACV) can’t do, including tackling hair and skin care. To naturally detangle and remove residue, Tourles recommends adding ¼ cup of raw ACV to a quart of water and pouring all over your hair as an after-shampoo rinse—it balances your hair’s natural pH by removing buildup from shampoo and styling products, and tightens the cuticle scales that cover and protect the hair shaft, leaving your tresses shiny and smooth. (Note: The vinegar smell will disappear eventually, but not until your hair is completely dry, so be sure to give yourself plenty of time before leaving the house). You can also use the above recipe to make a face toner. Like hair, skin is also naturally acidic, so ACV helps to restore its natural pH balance, leaving skin right where it should be—not too oily and not too dry; Tourles suggests simply swiping with a cotton swab on your face and neck after cleansing.YOU WANT:
A glowing complexion and super-soft lipsTRY: Raw honey
Don’t be afraid of slathering this sticky stuf all over your face—it’s actually very hydrating, says Tourles. After cleansing, pull your hair back. Put a tablespoon of honey in a small custard cup or glass jar, then dip your fngers in and tap the honey all over your face and neck until they’re covered (avoiding the eyes). This technique is invigorating for the skin, since “all of the tapping enhances your blood circulation,” says Tourles. Recline for 15 to 20 minutes; you’ll notice your face becoming very warm, but it shouldn’t be uncomfortable. Rinse of the honey with warm water and a washcloth. “Honey is a humectant, it draws water from the air and absorbs it into the surface of your skin, so you’ll get a plump, pinky glow.” Bonus: Raw honey also makes for a great hydrator for chapped lips, especially during the winter months. Simply apply a dab with your fnger several times a day for smooth (and tasty!) lips. From KIWI’s December/January Issue
