Humio Ultrasonic Cool Mist Humidifier

Tired of feeling like your home is coated in dry heat? There’s a simple and chic solution: the Humio® Ultrasonic Cool Mist Humidifier with built-in Night Lamp and Aroma Oil compartment. This device quietly adds moisture to dry air, while consuming less power than a light bulb—plus its elegant design blends into the décor of any room in your home. Humio can cover a span of up to 100 square feet, and when used as a night lamp, it can stream a sequence of vibrant colors without generating heat or using excess energy. Unlike traditional vaporizers that boil water and release steam, making a room feel muggy, Humio releases a comfortable cool mist. This humidifier is safe, easy to use, and simple to maintain. The best part? Humio does not require filter changes, which saves you money. Another big bonus, is that you’ll no longer need to invest in costly and toxic air fresheners for your home. Humio has a built-in Aroma Oil compartment that can release the fragrances of natural oils into the air. - See more at: http://www.greenmomsmeet.com

Finger Lakes Natural Beef

http://www.fingerlakesnaturalbeef.com
Will-Sho Farm

Okay if anyone knows me I am not a fan of Beef ...well I do like a good burger and I make a great burger but put a steak in front of me I will wrinkle my nose. But in all honesty we have found a local , local being King Ferry, New York a promising farm that raises some beef worth eating.
I was doing some research on the internet trying to find an alternative to what we find in the stores for meat. I happened to find this one Will-Sho-Farms I added the link on top of this blog for you to click on and try for your self.

We bought the 20 lb. pack. and was surprised they delivered right to our door being we lived practically down the road. Well my husband seems to think it is because of who he is......ahhh ahhaha...but we will let him think he is special to the world...but in any case the owner of the business brought our meat to our door in a reusable bag.  Frozen, so far we hae used the hamburger which was delicious, juicy, tender very little excess....it was beautiful looking fresh...
Next we have eaten two of the steaks...I tried a piece tonight. I figured if I was going to blog about it Id better taste. I have to admit I did doctor the a little with some hot sauce...a little. It was better than expected ...Tender ,juicy, easy to chew and a touch of sweetness you would want in a good steak.
They sell around the area at different venues and also you can get a cooked one the Rogues Harbor in Lansing, and Pumpkin Hill Bistro that is a seasonal place you will find on rte. 90 north on your way to Aurora, New York...I have not eaten there but I hear it is fabulous.
The meat at the farm can be ordered by the whole , half, and quarter. Get a few families together and order a whole and save...average if  by the whole is $5.95 pr lb...a steal...You will pay more in the best of stores and your not getting local grown beef.
So if you want meat that you know how it is raised and what it is fed try local...Please I recommend Will-Sho-Farms  Finger Lakes Natural Beef...for sure..

Pin Cushion beginning 2014

Started making my pin cushions the other day and certainly found out they are not as easy to make as they appear. I started making one that was quilted , design of a heart...blah blah blah...it turned out looking like a sick heart.. Not even worth taking a picture of..

Next I decided to make one with the jean pockets I saved from some jeans my daughter Tracy gave me to make a bear with which I call Reese after her son ( my grand son) and am selling it at the Peoples Market in Lansing, New York. I sell a lot of my items there to my surprise. Well it turned out really pretty cool added a hand made rose of deep purple.

Next was a round type that is made from some antique looking material I bought from a local shop called "Green Sew" a non profit shop that is made up of all donated material, shop started with the idea of helping people ( mostly children ) to learn to sew and not being able to afford it. I love this store. Well it turned out just okay..Added a little hand crocheted flower to the center and some embroidery thread as accent.

and than here is the next not the last but the next...it is basically oblong and did some embroidery around the edges with a heart ....okay  not good but okay...

so here is my latest.. I did some embroidery following the print of the material. I kind of like this one the best so far the back is of yellow dragon flies , with an added white button , edging of white rick rack ... well will keep working on these. Got most of my inspiration from pinterest ...kind of love that site...lots of ideas but man you really have to have talent for some of them..check it out..

    4 cups cooked macaroni

pre cook oven until reaches 400*

    in medium sauce pan
    melt slowly

    1/2 stick butter (melt)
add 1/4 cup flour ( sprinkle in )
stir till thickened...wont take long.. this is called a rue

add slowly and stir well  , 1 cup at a time 3.5 cups of milk...whole milk works nicer...creamer but not necessary

    Pin Cushions

I have been thinking of making pin cushions. Done lots of research and have lots of ideas. I guess I should just stop procrastinating and get one started. There are so many cute ones out there. But tomorrow will be the beginning of a new adventure. Wish me luck. I will be posting the ones as they come off the sewing machine..

    Always missing you

It has been two weeks since you passed. I miss you always. There is not a day that goes by that I feel like I want to call you. I know you are in a better place but I wish you were here so I could call and shoot the stuff with you. Love you Susie.

    Jean Bags

These bags I made out of Jean skirts. lined them and added some extra goodies. Sold each one...surprised.

    Christmas elf hats

I knitted these for all of my youngest grand kids for Christmas 2013. They looked so cute and I had so much fun making them.

Things I have been working on

I decided to start keeping track of all the items I have been making and selling for the past two years. I started make greeting cards, and progress to making jean totes. And of course when I get going I can not stop. I have made bibs, mug rugs, table toppers, Christmas decorations, bears, baby quilts, larger quilts, knitted scarfs, hats, mittens, socks, baby blanket, pillows. I am sure there is more. I will be posting as I progress. I will also start posting pictures and hopefully I will see my talents increase. I love to do just about any craft and will try just about anything. Some work some do not.
I just got a wood burning iron and will be trying that in the future , when the weather changes. Living in upstate New York you have to wait for the right weather for certain projects. Interested in doing some bird houses...we will see how that works..

Below are some of the mug rugs I have been working on. Some are patchwork and some are hand embroidered. I sell these and most of the other projects are a local peoples market in Lansing , New York

    My sister Susie

My first memories is sitting in the window desperately looking towards the school waiting for my sister to come home. I am sure I was around 2 or 3. we lived on the second floor in an apartment. I think my dad was a truck driver but not sure. We lived at that time in Van Etten, New York. My sister Susie passed away today. I miss her and seems like it was not that long ago we were kids. Sue was 3 years older than I , we were friends in many ways. It seems as I look back she was always there for me in the most important times in my life. When we plucked my eye brows, ouch....dated when I was just a kid myself. ...I ran away from a alcoholic mother and lived with her and her husband. help take care of her three little kids. I see us drinking together , eating shrimp and doing laundry. We certainly did our running around in many ways....always eating something and laughing. she would watch my oldest kid at the time. While I worked and went out. She tried to be the best sister and mother she knew how. We got out self in trouble more than once and helped each other out more than that. My mother died when we were in out early 20's...sad time in both our lives...never had much backing from adults so we clung to each other ...Sue was always there for each one of 6 brothers and sisters...Her boyfriend and her made sure we all had a place to sleep even if it were on the floor...never turned us away....I miss her than and miss her now. When I remarried we seem to drift apart...I moved to King Ferry and she lived in Spencer...not far but about 45 minutes...never seemed to get to see each other for one reason or the other. Sue has been ill for some time. She always had a problem with people and her self esteem was low as all of us ....Kind of a recluse after awhile. She ended up having kidney problems ,we all have had an addiction of some sort ...we did get to see each other at her grand daughters wedding this past summer. did not take the time to sit and talk to her. Now I wish I had...always in retrospect. ......Susie was going to the hospital for two to three times a week having dialysis ...her kidneys were shot...today she woke with pains in her stomach and her boyfriend called the ambulance. Just as she was being transported and Ed was leaving the house they called and told him she passed in transport.....Her daughter Heather was the one to tell everyone...There are 5 grown adult children and many grand children left to mourn her passing. I certainly hope my grandmother Pinkham was there to greet here. They were very close. Susie lived with them when she was a toddler. Until my parents were married. long story. I can not seem to cry. I am not sure why but I am glad she is not suffering and in pain any longer. I wish for my sake I had seen her more often....I will have to live with that ....but no regrets...just wishes. Some day I hope when I pass she will be there to greet me...Love you sue always have an always will...you knew that....peace for you ...lots of strawberry's and well see you soon. so many memories and happy times as well as sad but none more sad than you leaving........miss you kid....Mindy

    Avitals Apiaries

    Happy 2014!

2013 was a wonderful year: Avital’s business is taking off, and you–my fabulous customers–have been complimenting my creations, sending them off to friends and relatives in far-flung places, and emptying the shelves at GreenStar, People’s Market of Lansing, Knitting, Etc., and other venues.
Logo_with_overlock-kernedAvital’s soaps and balms can be found in two new stores: Nature’s Remedy in Ellicottville, NY and Trinity Therapeutics in Corning, NY. I am so pleased that these wonderful stores enjoy my products, and want to share them with their clients!
So what’s new for 2014? I have a new facial cleanser in the works. As usual, I will be testing it on friends and family in the upcoming weeks. But fair warning–it isn’t the usual soap. Facial skin is so delicate; I think it needs something different… Something that cleans your skin without stripping it, something that really improves the feel of your skin. something that feels like a morning spa. More soon!
I also have a shaving soap in the works, with trials out being tested. It’s designed for shaving with a brush, but I’ve worked up a lather and used it myself without. So far, it’s a go! A few more tweaks, and it will be ready for Father’s Day. As always, I’m contemplating scenting: lime basil, perhaps? Lemon tea tree?
Finally, it’s time to start working on an online store. Those far flung friends and relatives who receive my products are starting to email and ask me to ship them. I’m not set up for it now, though I happily acquiesce to the requests. This year is the time to change that: I’m researching online shopping carts, mailing options, and other improvements so that mailing out soaps and balms becomes routine.
Now you know a few of my New year’s resolutions. I hope you are setting your goals for the 2014, and brainstorming how to achieve them!
    Happy New Year!
